What is HIFU
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment can target various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring.
Entirely non-invasive, HIFU works by targeting deep layers in the skin. It boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source.
The HIFU non-surgical face lift has been hailed the ‘Lunchtime Face Lift’ as the treatment is quick, painless, non-invasive and has zero downtime. HIFU’s ultrasound energy is tightly focused to produce a precise effect.
Treatment Areas For HIFU
HIFU can also be used to melt areas of fat in the face and body. This works by ablating subcutaneous adipose tissue and causing molecular vibrations that increase the temperature of local tissue and induce rapid cell necrosis.
HIFU focused ultrasound energy skips the epidermis layer, penetrating to the subcutaneous tissue leaving no damage or scarring to the top layer of the skin
Benefits of HIFU
- Wrinkle reduction
- Tightening sagging skin on the neck (turkey neck)
- Lifting of the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids

Pre-treatment Advice
1 Week before treatment
You must avoid sun exposure and sunless tanning. Sunburned or tanned skin will not be treated. All skin irritants must be stopped (glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinol products such as Retin A, Tazorac, Triluma, Differin, and Vitamin C) on the area being treated. Antibiotics must be made aware of. Certain antibiotics (Tetracycline, Doxycycline) can make a patient photosensitive, therefore, treatment may not be able to be done until two
weeks after completion of the antibiotic.
Day before treatment
Treatment can not be performed if you have an active cold sore or skin infection and will need to be rescheduled.
Day of Treatment
If the first treatment, please arrive 30 minutes prior to the treatment to take photos and make sure consent forms are signed. Remove all make-up and moisturizers on the area being treated. Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before treatment.
Managing Realistic Expectations advice on top up
Each client depending on the age group, will define how many top up treatments they will need. These factors will include: The age of skin, whether the patient smokes and how often, how much sun damage the skin has and diet and lifestyle. Each individual assessment will determine how many treatments are recommended.
Aftercare
- Avoid exposure to the sun after the HIFU skin treatment. It is important patients try and prevent themselves from exposure to sunlight and extreme cold weather for a few weeks after treatment.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
- Don’t scratch the skin.
- Drink plenty of water. Two litres is recommended.
- Don’t have too hot showers or baths.
- Skin may feel dry after HIFU face lifting. It is suggested to apply a face mask at least three times per week.
